Itinerary: Bishkek – Chon-Kemin – Cholpon-Ata – Karakol – Kaji-Sai – Kochkor – Tash Rabat – Chatyr-Kul lake – Tash Rabat – Son-Kul – Kochkor – Kyzyl-Oi – Bishkek
Day 1: Bishkek
Meeting at Manas International Airport and transfer to Bishkek. You will have time to rest after your trip. Afterwards, Bishkek city tour, visiting museums and the eastern bazaar. Alternatively, you may choose to take a small trip to the nearest mountains (approximately 2300 meters above sea level).
Day 2: Bishkek – Chon-Kemin
Today we will head towards Chon-Kemin (about 150 km). On the way, we will visit the open air museum of Burana Tower dated back to the 11 century AD and a small German village located close to Tokmak.
Once we arrive at the Chon-Kemin valley, you may walk in the mountains or ride a horse.
Overnight in a guest house (approximately 1300 meters above the sea level).
Day 3: Chon-Kemin – Cholpon-Ata (Issyk-Kul)
Transfer from Chon-Kemin to Cholpon-Ata located on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul (about 260 km). Once we arrive in Cholpon-Ata you will visit the open air Museum of Petroglyphs. Afterwards, you will have time to take a walk along the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake or swim and enjoy the beach. Overnight at a hotel (approximately 1600 m above sea level).
Day 4: Cholpon-Ata – Karakol
Today we will head to Karakol town located to the east of Issyk-Kul (approximately 140 km). Here we will make a small trip to the Grigoriev Gorge, where you will have a chance to enjoy beautiful mountain nature. Afterwards, a city tour in Karakol: you will visit Przhevalsky Museum, Russian Orthodox Church, Muslim Dungan Mosque and Karakol Bazaar. Overnight in a guest house.
Day 5: Karakol – Kaji-Sai
Today we will make a trip to the Jeti-Oguz gorge, where you will have a chance to walk on summer pastures. Afterwards, we will head to Kaji-Sai village, located on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul (approximately 120 km). Here you can go for a walk, swim in the crystal clear water or relax on the beach.
Overnight in a hotel.
Day 6: Kaji-Sai – Kochkor
A trip along Issyk-Kul Lake (approximately 150 km) towards Kochkor (approximately 2300 m asl). The road goes through charming landscapes, on the way we will have a lot of photo-stops and opportunities for short walks. Overnight in a guest house.
Day 7: Kochkor – Tash-Rabat
Today the route will lead us through 2 beautiful mountain passes, along the Great Silk Road to the ancient Caravanserai – Tash Rabat, located at 3000 m above sea level (250 km). On the way you will enjoy the stunning nature of the area, incredible views of wild nature and high mountains. Besides, we will travel through the Dolon Pass (3030 m) mentioned in the famous novel “My poplar with a red scarf” written by Chyngyz Aitmatov – a Soviet and Kyrgyz author who wrote in both Russian and Kyrgyz languages. He is one of the best known figures in Kyrgyzstan’s literature.
Overnight in yurts.
Day 8: Tash Rabat – Chatyr-Kul lake
Hiking to Chatyr-Kul lake. It is one of the highest lakes in Kyrgyzstan, located at approximately 4,200 meters above sea level. Chatyr-Kul means “Roof Lake” in Kyrgyz.
During this hiking tour you will enjoy the stunning views of the lake and of the Chinese part of the Tian Shan mountains.
Overnight in the same yurts.
Day 9: Tash Rabat – Son-Kul
Today we will make a trip to Lake Son-Kul (Song-Kol), which means “following lake” in Kyrgyz (130 km). On the way to the lake we will cross mountain passes and pass by wild places, rapid rivers and high mountain peaks. Overnight in a yurt camp at Son-Kul Lake.
Day 10: Son-Kul
Today we will make a hiking tour to the mountains to see ancient rock writings. Afterwards, you will have time to walk along the lake shore and taste Kumis (fermented mare’s milk). You will have an opportunity to experience the real nomad lifestyle on summer pastures, to enjoy beautiful mountain nature and to see a white Edelweiss path.
After lunch, a short horseback riding tour (about 3-4 hours).
Overnight in the same yurts.
Day 11: Son-Kul – Kochkor
Today we will say „Good Bye“ to Son-Kul lake and go back to Kochkor village through the Kalmak-Ashu pass (3200 m). The distance of the trip is 110 km. Besides, today you will visit the Museum of Felt.
Overnight in a guest house.
Day 12: Kochkor – Kyzyl-Oi
Trip to Kyzyl-Oi village through florishing meadows. Approximate distance – 170 km. Overnight in a guest house (1800 m above sea level).
Day 13: Kyzyl-Oi
Today you may hike or take a horseback ride in the surroundings of Kyzyl-Oi. Enjoy the beautiful nature of the valley and the rapid mountain river Kokomeren.
Overnight in the same guest house.
Day 14: Kyzyl-Oi – Bishkek
Today we will go back to Bishkek (approximate distance – 220 km). Our way will go through the Suusamyr valley and the beautiful Too-Ashu pass (3300m).
Once in Bishkek you will have time for last minute shopping at the Eastern Bazaar or at CUM. Farewell evening with traditional dishes, drinks and Kyrgyz folklore performance.
Overnight in a guest house. Transfer to Manas International Airport in the morning.
