ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION 

Itinerary: Bishkek – Chon-Kemin – Cholpon-Ata – Karakol – Tamga – Kochkor – Tash Rabat – Son-Kul – Kochkor – Kyzyl-Oi – Chychkan – Sary-Chelek – Toktogul – Bishkek

Day 1: Bishkek

Meeting at Manas International Airport and transfer to Bishkek. You will have time to rest after your trip. Afterwards, you will have a city tour, visit museums and the eastern bazaar.

A small trip to Ala-Archa National Park located 59 km from Bishkek (approximately 2300 meters above sea level). Here you may take a 2-hour walk up to 2600 m above sea level.

Overnight in a guest house in Bishkek.

 Day 2: Bishkek – Chon-Kemin

Today we will head towards Chon-Kemin (about 150 km). On the way, we will visit the open air museum of Burana Tower dated back to the 11 century AD and a small German village located close to Tokmak.

Once we arrive at the Chon-Kemin valley, you may walk in the mountains or ride a horse.

Overnight in a guest house (approximately 1600 meters above the sea level).

 Day 3: Chon-Kemin valley

Today we will hike from 1600 m above sea level up to 2500 m asl. We will start our hiking tour in Kalmak-Ashu village. Our route will lead us along the valley, fields and small farmer houses. Afterwards we will climb up to a mountain to see a small mountain lake.

Overnight in the same guesthouse.

Day 4: Chon-Kemin – Cholpon-Ata (Issyk-Kul)

Horse riding lesson (about 2 hours).

Transfer from Chon-Kemin to Cholpon-Ata located on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul (about 260 km). Once we arrive in Cholpon-Ata you will visit the open air Museum of Petroglyphs. Afterwards, you will have time to take a walk along the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake or swim and enjoy the beach. Overnight at a hotel (approximately 1600 m above sea level).

Day 5: Cholpon-Ata – Karakol

Today we will head to Karakol town located to the east of Issyk-Kul (approximately 140 km). Here we will make a small trip to the Grigoriev Gorge, where you will have a chance to enjoy beautiful mountain nature. Afterwards, you will have a city tour in Karakol, including a visit to Przhevalsky Museum. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 6: Karakol

Today we will take a small trip to the thermal water sources located in the Altyn-Arashan valley (about 16 km). During this trip you will certainly enjoy the stunning almost untouched nature of the area: gorgeous mountains, rapid rivers and a lot of wild animals.

Once you are back in Karakol, you will visit Russian Orthodox Church, Muslim Dungan Mosque and the bazaar of Karakol.

Overnight in the same guest house.

Day 7: Karakol Jeti-Oguz

Today we will make a trip to the Jeti-Oguz gorge, where you will have a chance to walk on summer pastures.

Overnight in a yurt camp (2400 m asl).

 Day 8: Karakol

Today we will hike through flourishing fields and summer pastures. We will start our route at 2400 m asl and climb up to 3800 m asl. On the way will see wild animals and nomad yurts, and once we get to the top, we will enjoy a wonderful panoramic mountain view. Afterwards, we will go back to the yurts.

Day 9: Karakol – Tamga

Today we will head to Tamga village located on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul (aprox. 100 km), where you can go for a walk or swim in the crystal clear water or relax on the beach.

The route goes through the Barskoon pass (3800 m) and the Sook Pass (4200 m); from here you can see the Chinese mountains. Once we get toLake Issyk-Kul, you will have time to take a walk along the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake or swim and enjoy the beach.

Overnight at a hotel (approximately 1600 m above sea level).

Day 10: Tamga- Kochkor

Trip from Tamga village to Kochkor (approximately 2300 m asl). During the trip we will take a walk to Skazka canyon (interesting rock formations). Besides, today you will visit a Felt Manufactury in Kochkor, nomad souvenirs are produced here. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 11: Kochkor – Tash-Rabat

Today the route will lead us through 2 beautiful mountain passes, along the Great Silk Road to the ancient Caravanserai – Tash Rabat, located at 3000 m above sea level (220 km). On the way you will enjoy the stunning nature of the area, incredible views of wild nature and high mountains. Overnight in yurts.

Day 12: Tash Rabat

Hiking or horseback riding tour to the Tash Rabat pass (4500 m). The road goes through the ancient route that was used to transport silk from China.

Overnight in the same yurts.

Day 13: Tash Rabat – Son-Kul

Today we will make a trip to Lake Son-Kul (Song-Kol), which means “following lake” in Kyrgyz (130 km). On the way to the lake we will cross mountain passes and pass by wild places, rapid rivers and high mountain peaks. Overnight in a yurt camp at Son-Kul Lake.

Day 14: Son-Kul

Today we will make a hiking tour to the mountains to see ancient rock writings. Afterwards, you will have time to walk along the lake shore and taste Kumis (fermented mare’s milk).  You will have an opportunity to experience the real nomad lifestyle on summer pastures, to enjoy beautiful mountain nature and to see a white Edelweiss path.

After lunch, a short horseback riding tour (about 3-4 hours). Overnight in the same yurts.

Day 15: Son-Kul – Kochkor

Today we will say „Good Bye“ to Son-Kul lake and go back to Kochkor village. The distance of the trip is 130 km. Overnight in a guest house.

 Day 16: Kochkor – Kyzyl-Oi

Trip to Kyzyl-Oi village through florishing meadows. Approximate distance – 170 km.

Overnight in a guest house (1800 m above sea level).

Day 17: Kyzyl-Oi – Chychkan

Today we will take a trip along Suusamyr summer pastures, through the Ala-Bel pass towards Chychkan. Overnight in a small guest house located next to a river.

Day 18: Chychkan – Sary-Chelek

Today we will go to Sary-Chelek lake located at 2800 m above sea level (approximately 160 km). On the way we will pass by high mountain passes and beautiful water reservoirs. Overnight in a hotel located next to a beautiful river.

Day 19: Sary-Chelek

In the morning we will take a short walk and after lunch you will have time to swim in the lake.

Overnight in the same hotel.

Day 20: Sary-Chelek – Toktogul

Today we will head towards Toktogul water reservoir. Here you may take a short walk in the surroundings of the reservoir or swim and enjoy the beach.

Overnight in a guest house located next to the shore.

Day 21: Toktogul – Bishkek

Today we will go back to Bishkek through the beautiful Too-Ashu pass (3300m).

Once in Bishkek you will have time for last minute shopping at the Eastern Bazaar. Farewell evening with traditional dishes, drinks and Kyrgyz folklore performance.

Overnight in a guest house. Transfer to Manas International Airport in the morning.
