Cultural & horseback riding tour: Bishkek – Son-Kul Tash Rabat

  • Itinerary: Bishkek – Son-Kul – Tash Rabat

 Day 1: Manas International Airport – Bishkek – Ala-Archa National Park

Transfer from the airpot to Bishkek. Accommodation in a hotel. Bishkek city tour: Ala-Too Square, Victory Square, Oak Park, Osh Bazaar and Russian Orthodox Church. After lunch, transfer to Ala-Archa National Park (40 km). In an hour you will find yourself in a picturesque gorge, where the mountainous river Ala-Archa rushes downward with a rapid stream, the highest snowy peaks, juniper slopes, alpine meadows covered with floral carpet will open open up before your eyes. Easy walk from the Alp camp (2200 m) to the Ak-Sai waterfall (35 m) at an altitude of 2700 m. Transfer to Bishkek. Accommodation in a hotel.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 2: Bishkek – Son-Kul lake

In the morning transfer to unique Son-Kul lake (3016m above sea level). In this amazing place you can see hundreds of herds and a variety of different yurts, where you will be invited to drink koumiss, the national drink made of a mixture of mare’s milk and bread. You can also enjoy a variety of other dairy products and jams. Dinner and overnight in yurts.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Day 3: free day to enjoy the wild nature

After breakfast you will check your horse riding skills on the Song-Kol flat open valley. Today you can ride a horse and/or watch the traditional Kyrgyz lifestyle. After lunch you will have time for rest and participating in the shepherds’ everyday life. Dinner and overnight in a yurt camp.

Day 4: Son-Kul –  Tash Rabat

Transfer to Tash Rabat. Lunch on the way to Naryn. Visit to Tash Rabat – stone caravanserai dated back to the XI century. The stone structure served as a refuge for travelers from the weather and brigands, who were abound on the Great Silk Road. Overnight in a yurt (portable housing made of felt).

Meal: Breakfast / Dinner

Day 5: Tash Rabat – Chatyr-Kul lake

In the morning, a horse ride to Chatyr-Kul lake, going up to the mountain pass where we can observe a wonderful view of Chatyr-Kul lake (4000 m). You will have lunch on the pass and after lunch you will go back to the yurt camp.  Dinner and overnight in a yurt.

Day 6: Tash Rabat – Kochkor – Bishkek

Transfer to Kochkor. Upon arrival in Kochkor you will have the opportunity to see the process of felt carpets (shirdaks) manufacturing. Transfer to Bishkek. On the way to Bishkek you will visit the Burana Tower – a well-preserved minaret of the ancient city of Balasagyn (XI – XIII). On arrival in Bishkek you will  have free time. Overnight in hotel or guest house.
